Dr. John G. Richmond is a Lecturer and Program Director in Healthcare Management and Leadership at the University of Sheffield (UK). Prior to moving into academia, John worked for ten years in risk management for public and private healthcare in Canada.
John achieved his PhD in Management at Warwick Business School (UK) in 2018, supported by a National Institute for Health and Care Research Doctoral Fellowship, where he investigated healthcare improvement. John’s research focuses on organizational resilience, learning, effective communication, and crisis management. Specifically, he explores the resilience of public organizations to extreme events. This includes events such as pandemics and extreme weather caused by climate change, as well as those resulting from professional misconduct and human error.
John is committed to conducting research with impact. In 2023, he was appointed to the Policy Insights Forum as Senior Researcher in Societal Resilience and Climate Change to facilitate public policy discussions in this area. John also founded an international network of researchers to explore Health System Resilience for Extreme Weather Emergencies.
