Policy on Donor Acceptance and Disclosure

The Policy Insights Forum (PIF) accepts funds from a broad range of sources, provided they are for purposes that are in keeping with its mission. The PIF is grateful for the contributions it receives, which provide critical support that makes the PIF’s work possible. These contributions may be payable annually or over some time or given as in-kind goods or services. The PIF respects donor intent.

Acceptance of any contribution is at the discretion of the PIF. Accordingly, each is subject to a condition, which is reflected in a written acceptance letter for any donation of $500 or above, that stipulates that the PIF is accepting such contribution on the condition that the PIF retains intellectual independence and control over any content funded in whole or in part by the contribution, consistent with the PIF’s Intellectual Independence Policy.

As a general policy, the PIF does not accept anonymous contributions. On appropriate occasions, the PIF will make exceptions to this policy for individual donors. For example, some individuals have a policy of not disclosing their giving contributions.

The PIF publicly acknowledges all its donors who give $500 or more in an Annual Appreciation of Contributors or similar listing on its website or in a print or electronic medium and may do so in other contexts.

The PIF does not sell, trade, or rent its donor lists and does not share donor information with third parties. The PIF takes all reasonable and appropriate measures to prevent the unauthorized use of its donor lists.
