
Heather Hume is a member of the Policy Insights Forum Advisory Board and serves as Chairwoman of PIF’s Canada–U.S. Strategic Dialogue, leading the Forum’s work to strengthen one of the world’s most important bilateral relationships. A fiercely proud Canadian and passionate advocate for entrepreneurs and business innovators, Ms. Hume is known as a strategic “Jill of all trades,” with a unique ability to build bridges across sectors and perspectives, navigate complex situations, and provide clear-eyed, practical counsel.
Ms. Hume is a former senior advisor to some of Canada’s most influential public policy leaders at both the federal and provincial levels of government. Today, she is Vice President and Senior Advisor at TD Securities, the wholesale and investment banking arm of TD Bank Group, where she leverages her specialized geopolitical and business expertise to work with investors, corporate leaders, and government to support informed, sound business decisions. A strong voice on cross-border economic strategy, she works with decision-makers in Canada and the United States to advance stronger bilateral outcomes for companies operating on both sides of the 49th parallel.
She also serves as Executive Director of the Council of Women CEOs and sits on several boards and advisory committees, including the Woodrow Wilson Center Canada Institute Advisory Board, the Canadian American Business Council, and the Washington Forum for the Canadian Economy.
Ms. Hume was appointed by the Alberta Government to a quasi-judicial board, where she served as a hearing Chairwoman and oversaw cases across several government programs. Comfortable working in both of Canada’s official languages, she is also active in her rural community and has served on numerous volunteer boards, including Women in Capital Markets (Alberta), the TDS Working Parents Committee, and the SHC Finance Committee. She initiated the Western Canada chapter of Women in Leadership and continues to mentor, sponsor, and encourage new voices at decision-making tables.
Ms. Hume and her husband happily raise their four young children on their farm in Southern Alberta.
