Current program

This internship program is designed to give eligible candidates first-hand experience working in a private research think-tank in the Government Relations field.

What you'll do

As an Intern, you will contribute to the Policy Insights Forum (PIF) division of Samuel Associates and participate in the activities of the firm. You will work on various projects, conduct policy research across multiple industries and subjects, help organize policy events and prepare insightful articles and other publications on strategic policy issues.

What you're good at

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated passion for research, a deep interest in learning more about various subjects including government, politics, defence, security, technology and the economy; excellent communication skills; and skill in evaluating data sources and gathering, synthesizing, and packaging research into accurate and timely output.

Open to all Canadian university and college students.

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
Major in business, finance, accounting, economics, politics or a related field
Solid time management and project management skills
Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, ability to prioritize and multi-task


Legally permitted to work in Canada
Must be able to work full-time (30 hours/week)
Must be physically located in Canada
The PIF is currently allowing remote work situations in Canada due to COVID-19, however should this change, applicants must be able to be physically present in the PIF Ottawa office within a reasonable timeframe.
