Current program

The Dr. Robert Spencer Fellowship Program (RSFP) in strategic studies is designed to give eligible candidates first-hand experience working in a nonpartisan research think-tank.

What you'll do

As a Fellow, you will contribute to the Policy Insights Forum (PIF) and participate in the activities of the organization. You will work on various projects, conduct policy research across multiple industries and subjects, help organize policy events and prepare insightful articles and other publications on strategic policy issues.

What you're good at

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated passion for research, a deep interest in learning more about various subjects including government, politics, defence, security, technology and the economy; excellent communication skills; and skill in evaluating data sources and gathering, synthesizing, and packaging research into accurate and timely output.

Based on your unique qualities, we will do our best to find a position and focus area that best suits your skillset and experience.

About Dr. Robert Spencer

Dr. Robert Spencer was educated at McGill University, Trinity College in the University of Toronto, and Oxford University.  As a Professor Emeritus and Honorary Fellow of Trinity College of the University of Toronto, and a respected teacher and mentor to generations of students, many of whom had their own distinguished careers in the Foreign Service, academia, and the broader Canadian society.

He is a distinguished Canadian who spent his career defending Canada and Canadian interests on the European stage. Having been at the creation of NATO, he remains a staunch supporter of the Transatlantic relationship.

Qualifications

All Canadian university students, preferably at the Masters-level, and those from NATO Member Countries can apply and take part in the Fellowship Program.

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English, French and other languages

Major in business, finance, accounting, economics, politics or a related field

Solid time management and project management skills
✔️
Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, ability to prioritize and multi-task
ADDITIONAL

Information

Legally permitted to work in Canada
Must be able to work full-time (37.5 hours/week)
Must be physically located in Canada
Fellowship Program lasts up to six-months
The PIF is currently allowing remote work situations in Canada due to COVID-19, however should this change, applicants must be able to be physically present in the PIF Ottawa office within a reasonable timeframe.
