Biography

Sophia Leis is a multidisciplinary writer, editor, policy analyst, and researcher whose work advances informed dialogue on public policy issues shaping long term societal change across political, national defence, Indigenous relations, and socioeconomic domains.

She is currently pursuing an Honours degree in International Relations and Modern Languages at the University of Ottawa and serves as Outreach and Development Coordinator at the Frontier Centre for Public Policy. Her experience includes work in the House of Commons, where she supported Members of Parliament through legislative research, administrative coordination, and committee activities in areas such as natural resources, justice, and human rights.

Sophia has also contributed to government relations and public affairs initiatives for the political podcast Northern Perspective, conducted policy research with the Macdonald Laurier Institute, and held the role of Associate Editor at the Frontier Centre for Public Policy. Collectively, these engagements have strengthened her capacity across research, communications, and stakeholder engagement within Canada’s public policy landscape.

She is an alumna of fellowship cohorts with the Canadian Jewish Political Affairs Committee and the Jewish Federations of North America. She previously served as Ottawa Chapter Leader for the Ladies of Liberty Alliance Canada Division and is a member of Women Matter Canada, where she advocates for women’s rights, particularly in sport, informed by her experience as a former athlete.

Having grown up in the Seattle and Vancouver areas, Sophia brings a cross-border perspective and a strong interest in North American public affairs and international relations. In her personal time, she enjoys skiing, snowboarding, reading, and travelling.
